Director of Music - Robert A. Smith
The music program at First Presbyterian is under the direction of Robert A. Smith, who has served the church as Director of Music since 1998. A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and the Yale School of Music, he is a Caldwell County native who has served as music director in diverse denominational settings. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory.

 
 
 

Parish Nurse - Jean Bolton
My nursing career has spanned 26 years, and I have certifications in ParishNursing and Psychiatric-Mental Nursing. I also am a Licensed ProfessionalCounselor. While most of my nursing experience has been in the field ofmental health, I have also worked in labor and delivery, surgical intensivecare, hospice and as a correctional nurse. I retired from the State of NorthCarolina in 2006 and have been the parish nurse at First Presbyterian sinceDecember of 2006.  My husband and I are blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano, writing, stainedglass, and lap swimming. A lifetime student of classical ballet, I also havesome training in sacred/liturgical dance.
