Food Ministry to hungry people
“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat…”

  • Burke United Christian Ministries
    Soup Kitchen offers a free mid-day meal every day of the week and two evenings a week.  Meals are prepared by mission teams from different churches so that hungry people might eat a hot meal.  First Presbyterian Church members volunteer on the second Tuesday of every month.

  • Meals-on-Wheels
    is a program which delivers meals to senior citizens in Burke County.  Mission Teams from First Presbyterian Church pick-up about 12 meals in Morganton and deliver them to seniors on a pre-arranged route.

Chapel

Ministry to developmentally disabled persons

  • The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center
    in Morganton provides comprehensive residential care and treatment for 350 developmentally disabled persons.  A mission team from First Presbyterian Church assists residents to attend the Sunday morning worship service in the campus chapel on the second Sunday of each month. 


Periodic Activities/Events/Projects

  • Mission Morganton – (Held on a Saturday in September) A coordinating team spends many months determining important community ministry opportunities and securing volunteers for each project. The team seeks to mobilize the entire church family in some capacity, as well as additional volunteers from other churches and the community.
